Abstract: The fifth report of the Rare Bird Panel presents the occurrence of 42 rare species in Poland. This year was very good or the record one for the Red-breasted Goose Branta ruficollis (61 records/89 individuals), Pink-footed Goose Anser brachyrhynchus (470/979), Lesser White-fronted Goose A. erythropus (35/42), Egyptian Goose Alopochen aegyptiaca (188/796), Black-winged Stilt Himantopus himantopus (46/92), Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima (16/24), Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus (50/79), Arctic Tern Sterna paradisaea (37/70), Eurasian Spoonbill Platalea leucorodia (18/56) and Red-throated Pipit Anthus cervinus (204/437). In 2022 very low numbers for the Pomarine Skua Strecorarius pomarinus (8/9), Black-legged Kittiwake Rissa tridactyla (15/16), Little Egret Egretta garzetta (38/52), Long-legged Buzzard Buteo rufinus (13/14), Greenish Warbler Phylloscopus trochiloides (17/19), Ring Ouzel Turdus torquatus outside mountains (14/15), Citrine Wagtail Motacilla citreola outside breeding sites (31/38) and Lapland Longspur Calcarius lapponicus (7/8) were recorded. For the first time, four species were included in the report: the Common Eider Somateria mollissima (outside the Baltic coast), Broad-billed Sandpiper C. falcinellus, Black Guillemot Cepphus grylle and Arctic Jaeger S. parasiticus (outside the Baltic coast).
